God Is Not The Old Man Upstairs




Generation after generation has generalized the most profound to analytically expound the most simple. A 'catch 22' exists in this paradigm to frustrate the human spirit. In a twisted effort to control the universe mankind as fallen into an arrogant quagmire full of superficiality. Purposefully antiquating the sublime and ethereal as fantasy, to promote the intellect of the third dimension as pragmatic fact.


Even throughout Christian history, the mind of man has left its telltale insignias. Permissively adopting theologies of a Candy Shop Heaven in effort to propagate a God of blissful tyrannical benevolence. Religious syndication's have authored God in succinct liturgies to appease the suffering souls full of destitution; but the quagmire created ultimately shields any perpetual self realization of God. Grossly under-
estimated, the spiritual life line between Man and God is left profoundly long and arduous. God is left out of reach and purposely out of touch and can only be blindly looked up to from afar. Pitiful cries toward Heaven can beseech such a God to pour down undeserved blessings to alleviated the afflicted souls. Prayerful petitions daily performed in mass rituals, filled with dreaded hope, seem to fill such souls with more untold ambiguous questions. Because this God reigns from a far off Kingdom and to touch His Throne is next to impossible, saved for only the very elect.


In this devilish concocted activity, full of religious fervor, mankind has irresponsibly minimized the presence of God. Opting instead to address God in more man-made nondescript titles such as 'The Old Man Upstairs'. Again, inflicting the soul with a partition that separates God from man and man from God, which seemingly cannot be bridged. This simplistic, mindless lethargy thus enables the laity mindset of man to remain in irresponsibility toward God and self.


As Disciples we are constantly reminded to overcome evil, with good. As we walk and talk together along life's way, whether in the work place of the city or the workplace of the country, our light is to shine into these dark places. Our
enlightenment (in godly knowledge) is to disperse the darkness (ignorance of godly knowledge). We know the Sovereignty of God Almighty and are equipped to permeate the darkness with the truth (light) of Jesus Christ as it is given to us. We learn not to minimize God thru man-made efforts of doctrinal logic and superficial theology. We learn our accountability is with God as Disciples and we are not our own. We learn the best efforts of mankind, pales in the light of Godly wisdom and knowledge. We learn communion through our communion with God, and nothing can replace the love we have toward God or His love shown toward us.


Gladly, we bow our own life in behalf of partaking of the Life so freely offered to us. We know that to become partakers of His Divine Nature is a privilege beyond this earthly realm. Any sacrifice entailed, is accounted toward the blessedness of His Presence with us. We gladly take heart each day to submit ourselves to the light and life that is provided each day with God. Without God present in our life, we know we have absolutely nothing. Nothing to offer and nothing to give. We know we would fall into all the deceptive snares of ignorance and unaccountability if God did not keep us as promised. For we find we are truly indebted to the Spirit of Life that is in Christ and no longer indebted to the flesh. Our indentured obedience comes from our hearts that overflow in the Love and Grace that is ministered to us daily by His Presence.


What a Mighty God we serve! Any lightheartedness we may possess flows out of pure gratitude, and far from the influence of any man-made ideologies. For we come to a point where we no longer seek toward our own, but have turned our attention to a Kingdom not of this Earth. We have found our citizenship with God in a heavenly place of His righteous dominion. This world can no longer possess us or claim us as its own.


Such joy in this acknowledgment should rock our souls. Such grandeur of faithfulness should blast through our spirits. Oh, the Heavenly Hosts is shouting in uninhibited praise, and shock waves of glory are beaming forth from His Kingdom! All because we are acknowledging His Greatness! What a Mighty God we serve!


Gather yourselves to His Throne again. Allow His Presence to fill your temple. You too may rejoice in such Glory provided. No way will you come away from His Presence and not be changed. It is impossible. No way will your mind be able to categorize God into little platitudes or fluffy quotes to soften the minds of men. No way will you be able to sit back and placidly observe God from a far off place. For His Glory will draw you like a magnet, ever closer to His Glorious Presence, till you sing and praise beyond that of even His Heavenly Hosts.
