HOSPITALITY



Through out the scripture one thing is very clear and that is hospitality. The many large houses being purchased, more space than any can possibly use. Did you know that wars were fought over hospitality? We all know about the two angels visiting Sodom and the hospitality they were shown by Lot. “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”kjv Heb.13:2. In the days the Judges ruled the land, and everybody did what was right in their own eyes. We,the church,have become weak. Can we only take a stand one side or the other? Let us get off the fence and out of the middle of the road. Only thing there anyway is road kill.

Judges chapter 20

Back in the days of the Judges, there was this certain Levite. He had a girlfriend who was, should I say, unfaithful? Took off on a journey to her Father. The Levite followed his woman. Stopped and had a great time with her father for awhile. When it came time to leave, being thoroughly entertained he and his babe then took off to Gibeah. There was no room at the Inn. There was this old man. The old man gave the Levite and his woman a room. There the Levite rested. Only the pad he was staying was under seize by some Sodamites. The old man offered his daughters, but to no avail. The Levite found his wife accosted by the Sodomites. He wanted justice. He then cut her up in 12 pieces and sent them to each of the tribes of Israel. Too bad there was not email in those days. Possibly a better way of comunication. Anyway to make a long story short the town of Benjamites was about wiped off the map in a bitter war. Perhaps the old man went too far in his effort for hospitality but one thing is clear. Hospitality then and should be today very important.

In the early days of the church there were no buildings called the church. The church is made up off a body of believers like you and I. The importance of hospitality goes without saying.
