I looked within the confines of my environment
For the one who would set me free
The only relief I found was the gravel of the ground
On which I lay, huddled with the masses of forgotten souls

My ears had heard the stories of many years ago
Why cannot I find the one who set so many free?
Among the friends and followers of the world I
Freely roam, finding nothing that will cast away my present self

History repeats so many things, of battles and victories,
All fought through strife, Is that the way my life must be?
I hold fast to a rope that leads me on, to where I do not know,
But in my hands is comfort, and a light, though dim at my feet

Leading me onward, the light grows bright; my heart begins to leap
For the journey is taking many curves and jostles,
Into the foreboding night, but still I search until the journey ends
For the one who will set me free

My feet continually forward, behind me I know the course
Before me is my journey, I know I will find the One I seek
My friends of former days have left the rope I hold, to find
Pleasures in the past dark night

I walk until it seems that I can walk no more,
But carried in the loving arms of one I do not know,
Looking into the face of the one who moves me
Towards my goal

Lord, I thank you for the love you have sent to the world and for the trust we have in you. Thank you for keeping us on the road when we don’t know which way to turn or what is ahead. With you, Lord, all things are possible, and will be okay if we will only believe—in you.
