Hakim used his staff to keep his swine herd in one place. Hakim had his herd in a good fertile place with a cliff on one side and the Sea on the other side. Looking across the field toward the caves, the rumor of a madman living there to Hakim for the longest time was just a rumor. Two years ago, one of Hakim's pigs started heading for one of the caves. A man that looked like an animal and was rattling a chain came out and scared the pig and Hakim. Hakim ran in fear and told the other swine herdsmen that there actually was a madman in the caves.

For a couple of years, the fishermen and the swine herdsmen lived knowing the madman was nearby. Two days before the incident, Hakim could tell a huge storm was brewing based on different factors. Hakim's swine herd was acting different and was getting restless and the Sea was getting more choppy. Hakim could also hear the madman in one of the caves wailing loudly and really rattling that big chain.
