Encouragement
We all know the story of the most famous reindeer of all , but have we considered the plight of the lonesome deer. At times we have felt alienated by friends , family , co-workers and more. Typically this condition is short lived with no ill effect. Society , doing what is deemed socially acceptable , found a trait that set the poor deer apart from the herd creating an atmosphere of slander and ridicule. He was never included in fun activities nor fun time play. He grew to accept this behavior for he also seen the flaw which distinguished him from all others. He may not have escaped the glares of his parents who
seemed to allow him to feel comfortable in his own fur. He reached for the sky , literally , in all his efforts to somehow over come his dilemma which set him apart from his peers.
Perhaps in his private time he would try to blend in with the fireflies which appeared at night to achieve a sense of acceptance. Oddly enough they both accepted the ability to glow
and most of all the ability of flight. But yet this only brought about scorn, “ look at him with that awful nose , no friends he has to play with the bugs and they do not like him , Ha ! Ha !
Ha ! Ha ! “. Day by day Rudolph grew in acceptance of his character flaw which allowed him to concentrate more on his other characteristics . He realized he was born a deer and should live as a dear and go forward with his inner most concern , others . He constantly thought , tease me if you must , exclude me if you should , but you may need me one day .
Daily he strived to find inner calm by doing for others , at least there would be company for awhile. He did not grow bitter at the constant nagging and being shunned , he just thought
“ forgive them Lord they do not realize what they are doing “. Growing accustomed to his abnormality , Rudolph accomplished a predetermined goal , do unto others as you would have them do unto you . With that thought in mind his actions would amaze even the ones whom hurt him the most . Most of the time he was excluded from many activities but was willing to aid someone in need then return to his lonesome life when the chore was over . A
constant goal of attempting professionalism in any activity he felt needed improvement in an effort to balance self worth . After much contemplation he enacted a motto “ I will do
what ever needs to be done to the best that it can be done and if I receive compensation for it that will be left to be seen . Can you imagine , when the big guy called to Rudolph , on that most famous Christmas Eve night when all that could be seen was fog “Rudolph with your nose so bright could you guide my sleigh tonight ? Suppose Rudolph would have responded “Santa you are on your own , nobody likes me , everybody hates me , I am always on my own until someone is in need , no sir you will just have to do it on your own ! Apparently this was not his answer he immediately stood up to the challenge to guide the sleigh and save Christmas Day. Could he ever imagine a defect that created an atmosphere for ridicule and scorn could someday be converted to something that would benefit the world ? Now all the other reindeers loved him and shouted out with glee Rudolph the
rednosed reindeer you will go down in history . Please learn the moral of the story all of us have some sort of characteristic defect , instead of becoming self defeated because you may
not be like all the rest , accept this short coming and prepare yourself for God’s greater call in life . Be prepared , be all that you can be , study to show yourself approved , live up to the task , perform the task to the best of your ability , get training if that ability does not produce a satisfactory result . Perhaps one day the big guy may call on you to save the day , will you be ready for the challenge with a willing heart ?
