Grief
To whom it may concern
Hello my name is sadness
To whom it may concern
I visited your church today
With hope to hear the word
My clothes were rather dirty
For my home you call the street
I was hoping for a handshake
As I passed the meet and greet
The songs were oh so lovely
As you sang about the lord
A choir of a hundred
All dressed in one accord
The sign outside read welcome
Come join our family
But I felt a little hurt
When our eyes they did not meet
I smiled and said good morning
As I made my way up front
But an usher said so rudely
To the back and go wash up
I was taken to the last seat
Far away and in the rear
I told the usher thank you
As I fought away the tears
I came to seek out hope
In a world filled with despair
I thought I’d hear of Jesus
And love would fill the air
I was waiting for his intro
An entrance oh so grand
After all this was a house of God
And on this rock we stand
But minutes turned to hours
As announcements seemed to flow
On Saturday a picnic
I hope you all can go
Tuesday men and women
Will gather for some fun
Also we need to raise some money
So dig deep everyone
Little Billy needs new braces
And Buffy wants a cat
So help me out my family
God will honor that
Now as you turn to say hello
Forgive me if you please
The bum back there
The smelly man
Ask him if he’ll leave
This is my church
I built it up
From the basement
To the roof
How dare you come
You worthless bum
No haircut or a suit
To think you would just
Walk right in
Wow! You have some nerve
This is the house God
You we will not serve
Sorry that I speak so harsh
But try to understand
Get a job and then we’ll talk
When you become a man
So sad and I’m so sorry
But you, you have to go
You don’t belong among us
And God you’ll never know
So sir I write this letter
To try to make you see
I forgive you and I love you
That homeless man was me
sincerely, Jesus

What you say is true at times, and so unfortunate. Jesus is the head of EVERY man, so therefore we ought to treat EVERY man with the same respect. Maybe one day we will see with the eyes of our Father, and when we look at our brother we will see the face of God! Blessings, Sharon
