Is There Anything Too Hard For God?
Genesis 18:14 Is here anything too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sara shall have a son.
For the last few days this passage has been going over and over in my head! But it wasn’t until this morning that the Lord revealed to me the message He has been trying to get across!
Imagine for a moment that you were way past childbearing years, and an angel announced that you would have a child. How would you respond? Most likely we would react just as Sarah did, therefore Sarah laughed within herself (vs. 12). I believe we have all been guilty of laughing at the promises of God, especially when they directly relate to our personal situation.
Have you ever prayed for something and it seems like the longer and harder you pray the answer gets further and further away? Have you ever gotten to a place where you laughed, when someone reminded you of God’s promises?
I believe, if we are honest with ourselves, we can admit that we have laughed in the face of God’s promises. Perhaps the angel of the Lord was not so bold to announce our laughing, but deep within we allowed our spirit to laugh, as if questioning God’s Word.
What are you facing today that seems impossible? Perhaps it is a child that isn’t serving God and you have prayed for years for their salvation. Perhaps it is a financial need. Perhaps it is a spouse that does not serve the Lord. I don’t know about you, but there are times when it seems the harder I have prayed the worse the situation got. This is when the enemy comes in and plays mind games!
As I was reading through this passage again this morning, I was meditating on the words is there anything too hard for God then the next line stood out…At the time appointed I will return unto thee.
We fix our eyes on the situations or circumstances; we allow our minute intelligence to dictate our heart and if we are not careful, we box God in to our time frame, and when the answer does not appear when we think it should, we give up! In essence we laugh at God!
I have to tell you, I am no different than many of you! I have a great financial need! I have a child living on the street and addicted to meth. I have situations all around me that I have been in prayer about – but I must recognize that God does not work on my time schedule! Everything is synchronized according to His perfect plan and divine purpose, not my will or agenda.
The word to Abraham was simply this: Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return unto thee, and Sarah shall have a son!
At the appointed time!
I don’t always understand why God doesn’t work in my time frame! It often seems to me that many golden opportunities are missed, but that is my flesh thinking things through! When I get still, and I pour myself into the Word, and I submit wholly to His will and purpose for my life, I understand that all things work together for good to them that love the Lord (Romans 8:28).
When I look at my drug-addicted daughter I see a hopeless situation, but when I look at her through the promises of God I see with God nothing shall be impossible (Luke 1:37).
Sometimes we have to go through the fire, but it is in the fire that we know God is with us! Sometimes we must go through the water! But did He not promise us He would be with us? (Isaiah 43:1-2)
We want things to be easy and we want things to be quick, but God never promised us a proverbial rose garden! He has given us the testimonies of the saints as a reminder, you may feel barren, your situation may seem hopeless, but in the appointed time His purpose will be revealed!
Is there anything too hard for God?
When you are balancing your checkbook and you don’t see how it will ever work out, go to the Word of God and remember that our Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills! When your child seems to be drowning in the muck of sin and it seems all hope is lost, go to the Word and recognize that God is not a man that He can lie! His promises are yea and amen! It is settled!
God is still on the throne! The God that brought life to a barren womb is the same God that is working in your situation today! The God that delivered the children of Israel from a land of bondage is the same I AM THAT I AM today! He is the same, yesterday, today and forever and I ask you, is there anything too hard for the KING OF KINGS?
In the appointed time God will bring it all together! It doesn’t matter what it looks like, how it feels or how desperate it may seem! The God that I serve today works in desperate situations!
Rest today in His Word and know that you know that you know that He has never failed us! He has not forsaken us! He is still on the throne and is concerned about the very intricate details of your life! He sees your child! He sees your unsaved spouse! He sees your desperate financial need! He sees your physical condition and today he has promised that in the appointed time, you will see life breathed into dead circumstances!
Rejoice today knowing that no weapon formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17)
Genesis 18:14 Is here anything too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sara shall have a son.
