Scenes of endless horror
Cascade before our eyes.
With crushed hearts and spirits,
We hear small children cry.
Engulfed by pain and sorrow
We cannot rest or sleep;
Waiting upon the rescuer
We bow our heads, and weep.

Weep for the children
Who have been left alone,
Weep for the stranger
Who has no job or home.
Wring your hand in mourning;
On knees your vigil keep.
‘Til darkness yields to dawning
Bow your heads, and weep.

Violence invades shelter;
There’s nowhere to run or hide.
For misery like a shroud
Smothers each one inside.
The world can offer little
And doubt begins to creep..
Is there a day of salvation,
Or death for those who weep?

Weep for the prisoner
Confined by chance or choice.
Weep for the victim;
Will any heed his voice?
Beat your breast in anguish,
Then on the refuse heap
Place putrid pride and envy..
Bare your soul, and weep.

Surrounded by squalor,
With nothing left to show
Desperate survivors
Refuse still to let go.
Rescue is gently offered:
Let ruin find the deep..
For those who will cling to their past,
We say a prayer, and weep.

Weep for the Father
Whose heart now breaks anew.
To recover His child,
There’s nothing He won’t do.
As He offers mercy
To all His wandering sheep,
If they refuse to trust Him..
He accepts their choice, and weeps.
