Christian Living
As a maturing Christian, one who knows God’s Word intimately, one who attends Church regularly, one who fellowships with saints religiously, it is important to understand that when you have reached this point, the point where you know God’s promises, where you understand his power, where your faith has been strengthened, you have not reached the pinnacle but you have merely just begun your journey. This is not a point in your life to be judgmental of others that have not reached your level of understanding, but rather to become even more humble as you begin to journey on a course to lead and teach others.
Now that you have began to attempt to understand the magnitude of God’s existence, now that you have seen him move mountains in your life, it is time for you to move in the power that he has given you. You see he has given you power to move mountains. It is important for us to understand that the power of the Holy Spirit dwells in us:
For it is written, 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Ephesians 3:16-20 KJV
The power of the Holy Spirit is at work within us. The human mind is incapable of understanding the extent of God’s love and power that dwells within us. God loves us so much that he would not allow us, his vessels, to go out into the world unprotected. Through prayer, meditation, fasting, worship and study we give power to the Holy Spirit that is in us. As we lay down our lives and submit every thing to God, our mind, our body, our finances, our families…give it to God, because only when you have humbled yourself, can the power be at work in you.
For it is written, 15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isaiah 57:15 KJV
Humility can only be accomplished through brokenness. We are born into sin through flesh and can only overcome the flesh by the blood of Jesus, through the spirit of God. So it is only natural that we would entertain spirits of arrogance, pride, lust, greed and wickedness. However as we journey through life and begin to experience trials and tribulations caused by our own actions or by the actions of previous generations, God begins to break us from bad habits as he humbles us through these experiences. It is in our times of brokenness, of humility, that we cry on God to deliver us and keep us, and this is why he dwells in the midst of the contrite and humble souls because it is during these times that we need him most. It is during these times when we allow him to be most effective in us by showing his love, healing and delivering power.
What exactly does this mean? What I am saying is, now that you understand the principles of Christianity, it is time for you to journey to the next level of spiritual worship and spiritual power. We must enter into a spiritual realm, using the power that is at work within us to fight the battle that God has called us to fight. This fight cannot be fought in the flesh, in the body. You see, whatever it is that you are battling with, that you keep asking God to remove, God has given you the power, his Spirit, to fight in the spirit and to win. For this thing that appears as a crutch to you, is there to shape you, strengthen you and mold you for your battle.
For it is written, What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31 KJV.
Didn’t Jesus say, Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. John 16:7. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 KJV You do believe in Jesus don’t you? You do believe that he lived and you do believe that he died for our transgressions, that we might see the Kingdom of God, that the glory of God would be revealed and received by all, Jews and Gentiles. You know of his resurrection and you do believe that he lives, as a Spirit, right? Well then, if you are Christian then you too have died. You have died to the World. You have put to death the person you were when you were in the world. You don’t look the same, you don’t talk the same, you don’t act the same, isn’t that what they tell you? Then you too died when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you died but you have been resurrected. You have been resurrected with the Holy Spirit.
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Romans 8:34 KJV Jesus came to earth and died so that he could send the Holy Spirit and you died so that you could receive the Holy Spirit. Well, if you have received the Holy Spirit then God dwells in you. If God dwells in you, then the power of God, through the presence of his Spirit is at work in you! You have power! And now that you have power, it is time to put on the full armor of Christ.
For it is written, 10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Ephesians 6:10-13 KJV.
If our struggle is not against flesh and blood, then we cannot fight this fight in the body. If our struggle is against the powers of this dark world, then surely God has given us power to fight these spiritual forces of evil with his spiritual forces, the blood of Jesus, the power of the Holy Spirit, a heart of righteousness, forgiveness, a sound mind, faith over fear. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.1 John 4:18 KJV For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
Saints, this is a draft. War has begun. God is calling you onto the battlefield. You must be prepared to fight. Do not worry about the things of this life. Do not worry about the troubles concerning material and monetary things. God shall supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory. You must believe this in your heart, beyond the shadow of a doubt. You see you cannot come into the spiritual realm and fight if you are fighting for material things in the flesh. Put your mind on things above. It is the trick of the enemy to get you to concentrate on things of the world, because if your mind is set on things of this world, car notes, house payments, business expenses, childcare expenses, medical bills, things that you are indeed in need of, then your mind can surely not be set on things of the Spirit.
For it is written, 34"Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. 35For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth. 36Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man." Luke 21:34-36 NIV
So I say to you, my fellow Saints, stand up and fight. God has called you into his glory, but he has also called you onto the battlefield. It is time to elevate your mind and your spirit that you might fight and free the souls of others in bondage. God chose us, not because he needs company in heaven, but because he has a purpose for our lives. You see, being a Christian is not just about going to bible study and singing in the choir. Being a Christian is a lifestyle that you have been called into for a lifetime. Jesus says, 27My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30I and my Father are one. John 10:27-30
For it is written, 28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 KJV.
Do you hear him calling you? If you are his sheep, if his spirit dwells within you, then you know his voice and you will listen. You have been called to serve a purpose. It is time to stand. God is calling for his people to stand up. Saints this is a time of war and now that you have discovered the warrior in you, it is time to rise up and fight. Listen for his voice. Listen and follow God. Call upon the spirit that is within you. Call upon the Holy Spirit for power. Stand up and fight!
