“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” – Galatians 5:22-23

It is fruit. We must take care lest we think that these are mere actions.

To think such is to be like foolish gardeners who hang grapes upon the branches of a dead bush, hoping that it will make the bush a fruit tree. The fruit will rot.

And so will it be with those who try to act out the fruit of the Spirit, believing that it will make them a Christian. They are deceived – and it will not be long before the “fruit” rots.

Our fruit comes from the Spirit by believing in Christ and abiding in Him.

“If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit, apart from me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5
