Cleanse me Lord and search my heart
Remove the shame of sin;
Restore me Lord to righteousness
God, make me yours again.

For here I am before You Lord
My head hung down in shame;
I stand before you guilty Lord
I alone deserve the blame.

For only but a moment
All caution thrown aside;
The flesh said I deserved the right
For selfishness I tried.

To satisfy this longing Lord
That only You can fill;
And left to my devices Lord
I’m empty; lacking still.

Oh God, you know I love you
You know intents and thoughts;
You know I long to please you Lord
And do that which I ought.

Yet many times I stumble through
Forgetting my strength lies;
Within the might and power Lord
Where holiness abides.

Deep within my heart and soul
Unmeasured strength I call;
Forgiveness washes over me
As to my knee’s I fall.

And though I don’t deserve it
You freely give to me;
Forgiveness through your own dear Son
His work on Calvary.

I thank you Lord, with all my heart,
My lips will sing your praise;
A heart that’s full of gratitude
My hands, to You, I raise.
