I gazed with misty eyes transfixed
At the heap there on the floor
The gift of love I'd given him
The coat he'd proudly wore

A bloody rag it had become
What is it now to me
A symbol of a dream's demise
Unrealized destiny

They took it all so lightly
His brothers when they came
To tell me how it happened
Life will never be the same

Now here I sit an old man
Tears on my crusty cheek
God of my father Isaac
How can I bear my grief

But all the while God held him
Securely in his hand
God took my dream to make it
God trusted me to stand
