Poetry
How long oh Lord, must I endure?
How oft’ shall my heart cry?
This path that I must travel on
A journey long and dry?
The wilderness consumes me and
The desert is so vast,
Each step I take is labored, Lord
For hope left in the past.
My eyes strain through the tears to see
My heart aches through the night;
This loneliness devours me,
And blinds me from the Light.
Have I not done what is required?
Have I not satisfied?
The purpose of my journey Lord
For all the years I’ve cried?
The valley low has been so long
Please help me understand;
Just where this road is leading me
Through dry and scorching sand.
Where is the Living Water Lord,
To quench my thirsting soul?
The all sustaining Bread of Life
To satisfy; make whole?
I hunger for the living God,
My heart cries out for more,
Your Spirit Lord, to overflow
On eagles wings to soar.
Remove the bondages and chains
That keeps me held to sin,
And pour Your Spirit out on me
Bring laughter once again.
The power through Your Spirit Lord
Enough to set me free,
To bring this journey meaning Lord,
And fill this life of need.
And though my eyes don’t see results,
My feelings fail to show,
The understandings slow to come,
There is one thing I know.
Your fingers trace the path I walk
You know just what I need;
This journey for my freedom sought
Your Spirit takes the lead.
And so I lay before the throne,
A sacrifice of will,
Submit to Your Authority
Your word to me fulfill,
That when my journey’s end I see
Reflections of the past,
The shadow of my character
In Jesus Christ at last.

Beautiful!!!! Nothing we endure can ever measure up to the sacrifice of the death of Jesus! How ever log it takes, we will continue, because we know He is with us! :)
This is just gorgeous. I see myself in each phase of the poem, going through trials and leaning on the love of Jesus to pull me out. His love is amazing.
