Have we denied You Lord?
In our words and our deeds
Like Peter on that night
Before the rooster crowed.

Have we bowed to pressure from the crowd?
Or lost heart when kings have called?
Did we fail to be counted with You
When it seemed that others would frown?

Do we succumb to the world's yardstick
When Your approval is all we really desire?
Have we betrayed You
For a mere thirty pieces of silver?

Oh Lord, do not relieve us from Your employ!
On our knees we beg of You ...
We are weak, a spineless lot
Good only for the dung-hill.

Lord, we need courage, we need faith!
We need Your input of righteousness.
But most of all, we want Your friendship
Because it means the most of all.
