HE WOULD NOT HAVE SAID...

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.” John 14:27a

IF HE DID NOT KNOW....

that the world would never give the peace they were needing, and as a matter of fact, the world would be instrumental in manufacturing a state of unpeace. There had to be a special peace given, His peace. That peace was grounded in Him and in the certainty of His unwavering care of them and unceasing presence with them, though having departed from them physically.

“My peace”, called as such for in that peace was to be found everything that He is...Saviour, Sustainer, Protector, Provider of hope and all of which there may be a need. “I give to you”..they had but to receive what was given. The world may attempt to give some sort of peace, garbed in oblivion, but it is far below the peace given by Him, the ability to face life head on.

TAKE AWAY for me...To be given His peace is to be given a great gift.
