The Blame Game!
It baffles me how we pass the blame, manufacture ridiculous excuses and tell childish lies, actually trying to make a fool of God, who created us, knows the origin of our every thought, imagination, words and actions - but we end up making a fool of ourselves.

The moment we repent, confess and forsake our sin wasn't when god found out about that sin. But that was when we got rid of the sin and it's consequences by the blood of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 10:19; 1 John 1:7; Ephesians 1:7.

Could we be smarter than God?

Genesis 3:9-14.
And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life…..

Well, like most of us, Adam and Eve found someone to lay the blame on, but the poor serpent had no one to blame! However, God understood their game, He created everything, sees everything, knows everything. Trying to fool God, makes us great fools!

1 John 1:8-10.
If we say we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and refusing to accept the truth.
But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.

Wholehearted repentance through the blood of Jesus Christ is the mediator between a holy God who cannot tolerate sin, and all human beings born into sin.

Ephesians 1:7.
"In Christ Jesus we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace"

The hard lesson I learned!
Many years ago, I was pioneering a Church and God was blessing us with His presence, favor and miracles. We were eager and working hard to increase attendance and of course membership. But one Sunday morning having spent the entire weekend preparing, and prayed through the night for the service, I set out to Church knowing the service that morning would be explosive and glorious as it had always been, if not more!

But just before I stepped on our temporary Church premises, a tired and hungry young man approached me and asked for $5 for breakfast for himself and his sister. I usually go to Church with lots of money to give generously. But my flesh wanted to be smart. So, I asked the young man to bring his sister to Church and then I would give them the money. I was more interested in filling my Church with people, than feeding a hungry man, with lots of money to spare! I loved to have a big congregation and Church, more than a pure, genuine love for people! That was like the story Jesus told of a priest and a Levite ignoring a suffering, wounded man who needed urgent help, hurrying off to preach! That was very ungodly of me.

Needless to say, the young man never showed up and the Lord woke me up at 2 am and confronted me about that foolish mistake and selfish attitude. But, as usual, like our flesh loves to do, I made up tons of excuses, put the blame on everything else but me. It was a very embarrassing situation and the Lord disciplined me for it. Thank God.

Hebrews 12:6-8.
For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes those he accepts as his children."
As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Whoever heard of a child who was never disciplined? If God doesn't discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children after all.

I repented quickly and learned that hard lesson. I hope we repent and forsake our sins fast and always. As his children, God wants us to learn, grow and mature in Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 28:13.
Whoever conceals his sins and transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

Ezra 9:6.
I prayed, “O my God, I am utterly ashamed; I blush to lift up my face to you. For our sins are piled higher than our heads, and our guilt has reached to the heavens.

1 John 1:9.
But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

Prompt, wholehearted repentance is a marvelous mark of humility and integrity in our walk with God that leads to a very cordial relationship.
