“In the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” Mark 1:35Jesus needed to pray.
“We will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” Acts 6:4.
The apostles needed to pray.
“Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer.” Romans 12:12
Paul urged the Christians in Rome to pray.
“Continue earnestly in prayer.” Colossians 4:2
Paul urged the Colossian believers to heartfelt prayer.
“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.” Ephesians 6:18
Exactly the same to the Christians in Ephesus.
In 1860 a wonderful Gospel work broke out in mid-Wales and many sinners were saved.
Why?
Well, here are quotes from a book written at that time…. “The first symptoms of the work appeared about four months ago in a revival of the spirit of prayer.”
Prayer meetings were held every night “To plead with the Lord for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. ‘Oh’ was our cry, ‘that Thou wouldest rend the heavens, that Thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at Thy presence!’”
