FORGIVE TO BE BLESSED!
Strife, contention, bitterness, wickedness and unforgiveness are like cancer, they eat, attack and consume you from the inside in such a subtle and dangerous way that you will only experience its deadly consequences when you're dying and it's too late. Until then, you will think you're justified to get back at the other person. It’s like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. However, forgiveness is finally just putting the cup down.
Forgiveness isn't a gift you give to someone who hurt you; it's a release form for your own peace of mind. By dropping the grudge, you stop letting someone who has hurt you live rent-free in your head. It’s about reclaiming that "emotional real estate" so you can plant something better there.
Unforgiveness makes you the devil's puppet and when he's done with you, he destroys you. God loves you and has forgiven you when you repent and forsake your sins. Only the lifeless are free to succeed without any fight, friction or opposition, because they have no enemies. They are successfully dead, never a threat to anyone, but simply Resting In Peace! That's why Jesus commands us to die in order to be fruitful or successful in spite of our enemies.
We really gain nothing, but lose everything arguing! We lose respect, time, people, focus, anointing etc. Avoid arguing, contention, criticizing etc.
It could be extremely gratifying, satisfying and pacifying to win arguments, but terribly and ultimately devastating to lose many precious relationships! Yes, they are at fault, but you are a Christian, a new creature. That makes all the difference!
Follow peace with all men as much as possible, you're no fool. Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace.
James 3:13-18.
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show out of a good life his works with meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, boast not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descends not from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envying and strife is, there's confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and hypocrisy.
Because you are alive, people will offend and oppose you! God commands us to forgive others because He forgave us first. Forgiving them sets you free and opens you up for God's grace, mercy and blessings to flow into you and through you unhindered. The easiest way to forgive those who hurt you deeply and then have your scars healed quickly, effectively and permanently, is to write their names down on your prayer list. Not to pray against them, but to pray earnestly for them, because you are a Christian.
Identify their pressing needs, begin praying for them daily. Soon, you will experience the miracle of what it means to love your enemies! Thereafter, whatever you touch succeeds, because God's favor, power and approval backs you up, always. Hallelujah!
