When God Feels Silent

There are seasons in life when God feels silent — when prayers seem unanswered, the heavens feel closed, and even worship feels dry. It's in these moments we begin to ask: “Is God still with me?”

Silence from God does not mean absence. In fact, some of the deepest spiritual growth happens when we cannot hear Him but choose to trust Him anyway. The Bible shows us countless examples — from Job’s pain to David’s wilderness cries, and even Jesus on the cross asking, “My God, why have You forsaken me?”

God’s silence is not rejection. It is often preparation. Just as a teacher is quiet during a test, God may be building your faith in the stillness. He sees what we cannot. He works in the hidden.

When God feels silent, lean into what you already know: He is good, faithful, and present. Don’t walk away. Sit with Him. He speaks in His time.

Scripture:

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.” – Psalm 37:7

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” – Exodus 14:14

Thought for Today:

God’s silence is not the end of the story — it may be the beginning of something deeper.

Prayer:

Lord, when I cannot hear You, help me trust You. Strengthen my heart to believe You are working, even in the silence. Amen.

Peace be with you!
