Hope in the Mess

The world is in a mess.
So many countries are in a mess.
Much of our own society is in a mess.
Much of family life is in a mess.
Why?
Well.
There’s only one reason for this terrible hopelessness.
Sin!

OK. We can get to work in various ways and improve both personal and social situations to some extent.
Even so, there is only one total and complete remedy and Jesus made that possibility clear and plain ---

“When He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.” John 16:8 NKJV

Jesus is speaking about God the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity.
He is the only One who can work in the depths of the human heart and get to the root of all our troubles.
He alone has power to bring the truth about our natural sinful condition to our hearts and minds.
And only He can apply the whole truth about Jesus, his death and resurrection to the depths of our hearts and spirits, so that our sins can be forgiven.

Yes, our world is indeed in a mess.
Oh how we need to cry out to God to send his almighty Holy Spirit to rescue us!
In and through Jesus, there is hope!
