When we discover the purpose of our lives, we discover freedom, hope, security and peace. No, this does not mean that when we are doing what we are purposed for that we will always live in bliss. No distractions and no conflict lead to no living. A person who is set to do what he is designed to do will most likely achieve it. Outside hindrances at times will cause us to think that we are not doing what we are purposed for. That is why it is ever so important to remind ourselves daily what our goals are. We set goals with our purpose in mind.

This is the time of the year when many will set goals and falter in just a few days. Why do you suppose that is? I believe it is because they have yet to find real purpose for their lives.

Are you purposely challenged? Are you still trying to achieve a goal you set years ago? Have you found yourself intimidated or are you just a procrastinator? When we do not set goals and purposely follow them we set our selves up for a pitfall. Where do pitfalls lead? They lead to self-pity, anxiety, hopelessness, chaos and confusion.

Every successful person has learned their purpose in life and how to set obtainable goals. Sometimes out of a heart of great ambition we set goals that are not obtainable. Moving in the direction of our purpose involves having the kind of integrity in knowing what you are capable of doing and not capable of doing. I thank the Lord for reminding me of my incapability’s which cause me to be more dependent upon Him.

Obtaining our goals in life usually means we need to make some form of sacrifice. Maybe it is studying the Word more, praying more, telling others about Jesus, being disciplined regarding the care of our bodies, or giving up things that stand between us and God. We should not be like the Pharisees who openly displayed their sacrifices of offerings and fasting. When we are sacrificing in a righteous manner, those around us are usually oblivious to it.

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.

Psalm 4:5 KJV

Having a heart to find and achieve God’s purpose for our lives often involves our willingness to lay down our own selfish ambitions. It means that nothing is more important to the believer than to know what God has called him to do and then to walk in obedience to that call.

I want to encourage you this year, in this brand new moment of opportunity to search your heart for your own life’s purpose. Be diligent and obedient in its pursuit. Remember you have been designed specifically to live your life in fulfilling God’s purpose. Our purpose in life is rarely a match for others. You alone hold the traits, talents and skills to become what God has purposed you to be. We cannot be like someone else and honestly, we should not desire to be like another person either. Get excited about what God has in store for you! It will mean sacrifice and total dependency upon Him. There is no greater joy than to be living the life that God has designed for you!
