As we gathered all feeling differently, all feeling the same. We could not decipher one from another, no color, race ,or creed .No young or old was needed. We were just as we were and that was ok ,at least for this day . So many emotions went raging through the crowd ,anger, loneliness,fear, some walls, praise God came tumbling down .Could it be ok that we cry ?Could it be ok that unity has power ? Freedom is devised by bounding yourself to others ?A community, did we really know the truth or definition of what that was ?

We walked some slowly , some raced, some just stood and watched the procession unfold . There was no one bothering us, the police even quietly mourned the brokenness of so many young precious hearts .An arm slowly glided around the neck of a young child who was saddened beyond ability of her knowledge . Candles sparkled in the twilight honoring what I would call the Love of a friend ,a neighbor,a sister and I know there were prayers ,oh so many prayers from the saints. Prayers of comfort ,prayers of justice ,prayers of peace .People want to come together but the world teaches us to be apart ,find your niche as long as it doesn't inter fear with mine,because apart is better? How are so many, so fooled ?

Breath was sporadic as darkness overtook the sky, the sound of tears slowly dropping to a cheek sounded like rushing waves of the oceans wrath. She slowly heaved in desperation, sucking in air and discovered there was no more to breathe. She nearly collapsed from grief, she mourned her friend today, who was beaten, and broken, and gone...She couldn't feel because that would hurt even more. She tore at her clothes and wailed, her own voice sounding foreign to her. Oh the grief, But then in the midst of Hundred’s of candles, a voice rose up in unity, singing for this precious girl. Not as us and them, but as "WE" that was so beautiful, so God! We’ll miss you Brittany!

As the weeping started to fade in the distance, as we gathered and ate ,talked and,just "were" You began to see it so translucent you had to look twice. All the names of her friends were placed upon a banner and the youth broke into memories, and I think I even saw a smile .There it was, can you here it calling? Oh Yes I am sure I saw it! Can you see it?Far in the distance when the brokeness becomes bearable,and tomorrow isn't dark the One who's light can shine in tragedy was there, and whispering ever so softly HOPE into the very depths of these tender lives .Isn't it so beautiful !
