Afraid of Change?

Change is Necessary

Are you afraid of change, even if it’s for the better? Don’t be. While we take comfort in knowing God does not change, it is necessary for us, which may seem quite obvious. Nonetheless, we may find ourselves resistant to change, because it can be uncomfortable. It lacks familiarity, and the assurance of knowing what is what. It means moving from the known to the unknown, and learning a different set of rules.
   People desire a better life; but even that requires an inner transformation. For instance, a person’s point of view might be the very thing holding him back from moving forward. Wrong thoughts, and imaginations probably hinder them more than anyone, or anything else.  Biblically, these are called strongholds (see 2 Corinthians 10:3-5). If a person is not in the right state of being, he will not be ready for something better. Transformation of our thought process is vital.
   Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
There are times, a physical change needs to take place in order to fulfill God’s desire for our lives. It’s all about positioning. How many times have we read about the Lord sending people elsewhere in order to fulfill their calling? In every case, they had to trust Him with everything. Frankly, the crossroads of staying, or going reveal a person’s trust level.
   Part of change may actually require someone to stay put. How many people have a propensity to run when things get tough? Too many try to avoid pain by evasion. Ironically, they remain stuck in a destructive pattern by the constant running. Action of itself does not make things better; in fact, it can be quite detrimental. If we want to see mountains moved out of lives, we cannot run away from them. We have to face them, but we don’t do it alone.
   Sometimes two things can be true at the same time. How so? As already stated, some need to stay where they are in order to change. On the other hand, others may need a different environment. That may include a separation from certain individuals. One might think in terms of toxicity with this latter point; however, it may be something different. For instance, someone can be overly reliant on others, and need to be isolated for a season. How long? God knows.
   Don’t be surprised if God changes things up, if you ask Him go to make you more like Jesus. Obviously, if you say to Him, “Here I am, Lord, send me,” things are not going to remain the same. You can count on it. One word of caution: allow Him to make, or lead those changes. Don’t try to force it. Wait on Him. He knows what you need. If we’re honest, we are more clueless about what we really need than we might like to admit.

Change requires Trust

Mark 11:22-23 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
   Some quake and shake, because they try to trust in their own abilities. They cannot see the mountain going anywhere, because they believe it’s up to them. The first thing Jesus said in this passage was, “Have faith in God.” That is the only place our faith belongs. While He may meet our needs through a variety of ways, which include other people, we cannot afford to put our faith in them. Otherwise, we may go to them, before we go to God. Before seeking people or things, seek Him first.
   James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Remember, God loves you, and knows what is best. He will allow you to go through rough patches in order to show you He is trustworthy, even when things don’t look good. Some individuals have difficulty believing He loves them, so He’ll use circumstances to reveal He actually does. With that in mind, He’ll also teach us to trust Him with our love ones. If we cannot trust Him with them, who can we trust?

Be Open to Change

If you have a strong sense of an imminent change coming your way, seek His face. He is making some changes, and wants to do something completely different with some, and that may include you. It is important to keep an open heart. Just know, whatever it may be, it will be for the better.
