We think of death as being simply physical, something in the future for us all.
However, the apostle Paul tells the living Christians in Colossae that they have already died!
“For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:3. NKJV.

“You died.”
How come?
From an early age, our lives were full of things that involved disobedience to God.
We were sinners by nature, deserving God’s righteous judgement.
Wonderfully, he sent Jesus into this world to live a life without sin, to suffer punishment for our sins by being crucified, and then to rise from death, triumphant over sin and all its consequences!

Like those Colossian Christians we can have a new life by being ‘born again’ through the sacrifice of Jesus.
And as soon as we experience that precious conversion, our old life with its sins no longer controls us.
As far as that old life is concerned, we have DIED!
Hallelujah!
