QUESTIONS

The beginning of a brand new year;
what will it's days unfold?
Will health, or wealth, or happiness
be mine to have and hold?

Will old friends true and faithful be,
in days that lie ahead;
or must the path of loneliness
be mine to walk instead?

Will poverty knock on my door
and without hesitation
destroy my dreams, depriving me
of peace and consolation?

Or will the cold, cruel hands
of death and sorrow touch my life;
piercing, burning, tearing me
like the plunge of a bladed knife?

The beginning of a brand new year;
who knows what it may bring?
Death? Despair? Poverty?
THROUGH CHRIST my heart shall sing!
