The dark night of the soul
Is when there is total darkness.
When man is away from God
Suppressing the spirit within to rise
Yet knowing there can be a dawn.
The dark night of the soul
When man refuses to budge
From the dark lanes of sin.
When he knows the night can be eased
But takes his own time to do so.
The dark night of the soul
When every attachment is taken away
When no road or path is even visible.
When man knows whom he has to go to
To let in the light to brighten the soul.
The dark night of the soul lifts
When man at last realises,
That with all the darkness around him
God is still in control.
When he believes and cries to him for help
God is besides him in an instant.
It is then the end of darkness.
The soul shines so bright in divine might.
