Blessed To Be A Blessing

In today's high paced, fast moving and sky reaching world people are busy brushing against one another in a bid to achieve tempting goals even stressing their limits in order to keep up with the technology, media, social network and their own pursuits. A competitive world setting higher and higher targets even beyond their human strength to do it all and mark their place in society.
One would hardly consider that in each of these rushed moments someone could perhaps pause to pray a blessing over the other or be a blessing to them in some form. Mostly people are counting their own blessings rather than sharing their blessings.

We are all blessed beyond the confines of this earth with the immeasurable blessings of God. Even if we face hardships on this earth, we all know that there is a paradise on the other side awaiting us, our treasures where no moth can rust or time can fade.
Jesus once told his disciples (Matthew 5:48), "Be perfect therefore as your heavenly Father is perfect."
To be perfect  we must first put on the garment of Christ. To be perfect we must rejoice in the happiness and successes of others doing away with feelings of insecurity or comparison. We should go out of our blessed zone in life to share our blessings with others. To help or even pray for those facing huge mountains and blockades. To get others into our blessing zone. To start a chain of blessings in the environment around us.

Many Saints did this and hence today we have so many founding orders, monasteries and retreat centres. The missionaries have carried forward this work by their relentless work in building schools, hospitals, homes for the aged, handicapped and mentally retarded. Reaching out in remote and tribal areas, dense forest spaces to the poor, malnourished and underprivileged people.
What keeps them going? The very fact that they know they are blessed in Christ, blessed in his body and blood. This arms them with strength to face another tomorrow to bring a simile, a ray of light in the life of others.

The Laity today have also devoted themselves in active participation of the growth of the church and with the third year running of the synod where all walk together doing away with the hierarchy just as Jesus walked with his disciples shoulder to shoulder even though he was God, the Omnipotent one.

We should trail in the footsteps of his apostles, who after receiving the powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit set forth on their committed mission to Jesus and never looked back. Having been blessed with the same spirit of God, they went around the world to be a blessing to others and baptize them in Christ.
We too are encouraged today to keep walking, leaving a blessing here and there in a beautiful treasure hunt to be found by those who desperately need it. To be the broad light walking angels to let blessings fall on a sad soul and witness joy and relief.

The moment we step out of our homes, our eyes should literally search and look around if anyone needs any help, strangers on the road, at travel, those lost in direction, those unsure of their decisions in life. Our voice and warmth can give them hope, make them feel the love all over, boost their courage and we could be the stronghold or crevice for them to climb their mountains to a desired victory. 

So let's not waste further time but put on the blessing cloak, hold our blessing wand in the hand and let the glitters and stars of blessings adorn the ones we seek to bless.
