Good Friday is the day Christians celebrate the death of Jesus Christ as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.

He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
and as one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
smitten by God, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned—every one—to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
yet he opened not his mouth;
like a lamb that is led to the slaughter,
and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
so he opened not his mouth. Isaiah 53:3-7 ESV

Isaiah 53 describes Jesus’s sacrifice in detail even though it was written 900 plus years before Jesus was born. The dating of Isaiah was verified when the Great Isaiah Scroll, the full book of Isaiah, was discovered in the Dead Sea Scrolls. Today, chapter 53 is often skipped over in Jewish synagogues (the forbidden chapter) due to their unbelief in Jesus as the Messiah. We read it because we can clearly see who it identifies. It is a great chapter to use to point your Jewish friends to Christ.

Your faith in Christ is supported by solid evidence. Study the prophecies and it will grow your faith.

Thank you, Jesus, for dying for our sins and rising for our justification.
