The pure nard
Is a costly aromatic ointment.
Poured from the Alabaster jar
Poured to fragrance the Holy feet
Of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
The pure nard
Is a spikenard perfume of high value.
Worth the wages of three hundred days
But meant for the one who would not be there for long.
The pure nard
Is a sweet smelling fragrance
That anoints the feet of the Master.
The scent fills the whole house
It is a sacrificial smell.
The pure nard
Is poured by Mary on her beloved Lord.
She wipes his feet with her hair
Preparing our Lord for his burial due.
The pure nard
Is the ointment of Bethany,
Used at the favorite stop over of Christ
The family so close to his heart
Lazarus, Martha and Mary.
The pure nard
Is a symbol of the offering of Christ.
A Thanksgiving from the home of
A brother raised from the dead by Christ,
A brother brought to life
After three days in the stone tomb.
The pure nard
Is the best that Mary could give
To her Teacher at whose feet she sat
From whom she learnt of heavenly treasures.
The pure nard
Is poured at a significant table,
Lazarus reclining on the heart of Jesus
As Mary performs a fitting farewell honour to Christ.
