Believing ‘in’ Jesus is Faith in Action

And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Mark 9:23ESV

How I’ve learned over the years that believing ‘in Jesus,’ is seeking after His honor. More than just getting up each morning and with rote… “Thank You Lord for this day!” to be enough. For sure, God wants to dialog with each one of His children in prayer.

Just as you’ve experienced situations when in conversation with someone, and you know in their heart, they’re not paying attention. How our Lord must feel, when the thoughts of the day burden homes with all the busyness, more than wanting to spend the first part of the day hearing His voice. Letting Him direct the day.

Years ago, when my wife and I were being discipled through a Navigators 2:7 study group, one of those memory verses was, Luke 9:23,   And he said to all, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. RSV  I thought to myself… ‘what’s it going to cost me by denying myself  to lose a little sleep, getting up earlier each morning to listen to our Lord talk to me.’

Yes, there was a lot of commotion in our home, raising five children. But through the years I found my prayer alter, a quiet place each new day listening to our Lord, asking Him to lead me.  

Our children are now grown, with family’s of their own. One day earlier this week one of my daughters came by for a visit. My eight year old granddaughter not finding Grandma, knowing she was graduated to be with Jesus asked me; “ Grandpa, aren’t you lonely without Grandma?”

I replied… “honey, I’m never alone, because greater in Jesus in us, to talk with me and encouraging me every day.”  

I still begin my day wanting to hear HIM lead me. “Thank You Father!”
