“FROM GREAT TO COMPLETE”
It’s one thing to be great in life, it’s another thing to be complete. Becoming great is good, but it isn’t enough; there’s something beyond and bigger than being great, it’s being complete. In life, everyone desires to be great, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with becoming great. However, being great isn’t a guaranty for true joy and happiness, our real peace and deepest satisfaction come only when we’re made complete.
In the annals of history, we’re presented with countless numbers of individuals who became famous, great and accomplished in business, career, politics, sports, entertainment, academics etc., but couldn’t find joy and happiness, inspite of their great achievements and attainments. In fact, majority of these individuals ended up committing suicide, having tried so hard to find happiness and fulfillment without success:
John MacAfee, the famous British-American computer programmer and businessman, died by suicide in June 23, 2021. The accomplished anti-virus software pioneer died by hanging as his nine months in prison brought him to despair;
Marilyn Monroe (born Norma Jeane Mortenson), an American Actress, died in 1962 of overdose of barbiturate (sleeping tablet) at the age of 36. The troubled beauty couldn’t find happiness as Hollywood’s brightest star, and out of frustration, took her own life;
Ernest Hemingway, American novelist, short-story writer and Author of the famous novel “The Old Man and the Sea”, was awarded the Pulitzer and Nobel Prize for Literature (in 1953 and 1954 respectively). He however died of suicide in 1961.
Considering the level of fortune and great achievements these individuals and several others recorded in their respective fields and space, one would think they lived and had the best of life that anyone could ever wish for, but in the contrary, majority of them ended miserably. Their greatness was obviously insufficient to address or fill the vacuum in their lives.
If being great is sufficient, everyone who has achieved greatness in one form or the other should never have had any reasons to feel empty or miserable. Unfortunately, the emptiness within our hearts, as humans, can never find a cure, no matter how hard we try. The only cure is being made complete.
Majority of people seem to focus and invest all they can in becoming great, but totally pay no attention to being complete. Anybody can be great in life, but no one can ever be made complete without Jesus Christ. The Bible in Colossians 2:10 says, “And you have been made complete in Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority”. (Berean Standard Bible).
Regardless of race, color, status, nationality or ethnicity, there’s something missing in the life of all humans, that only Jesus Christ can fix. Attempting to find completeness without Jesus is like a fish attempting to survive or live outside of water. The answer that our souls desperately need can only be found in Jesus Christ, NOT in mere religion. Christianity is all about active relationship with Jesus. It’s our union with Jesus Christ that makes us complete in this life and eternity.
Remember, when God wanted to create fish, he spoke to the sea. When God wanted to create trees, he spoke to the earth. But when God wanted to create man, he turned to himself. Then God said: “Let us make man in our image and our likeness”. If you take a fish out of the water it will die; and when you remove a tree from the soil, it will similarly die. Likewise, when a man is disconnected from God, he dies!
We’re united with God through Jesus Christ His Son. Jesus says “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one can come to the Father except through Me”. It’s only in Jesus we can be made complete.
There's a missing piece in your life that ONLY Jesus can complete.
WITHOUT JESUS, LIFE HAS NO MEANING!
