We have entered into the most holy season of Lent, once more to walk with our Lord on his most painful journey, his final journey on earth all to purchase for us a forever journey into heaven.
It might seem foolish to our thinking on how could a battered and bruised God carry the weight of the sins of the world on his shoulders?
But make no mistake. Love's folly is love's decisive wisdom. We read in 1 Corinthians 1:25-30; “For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. Think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised thing and the things that are not to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.”

The above scripture verse is self explanatory!
A God who is so madly in love with his people that he was willing to go to the extreme lengths of suffering, with a clear heart and with no mistakes that he wanted to save his own for his own.
Only Love is capable of making the beautiful folly of loving.
Loving with or without receiving love in return. Loving when the chosen people turned away from God and sought other idols.
Loving when the drops of blood kept falling onto the ground from the Cross above.
The folly of love is in accepting, forgiving, reconciling and believing.

We are all too familiar with the story of Samson and Delilah on how he was tricked by her in revealing the secret of his strength that lay in his hair and how Delilah betrayed him by cutting off his long hair and leaving him defenceless to die.
Samson had loved Delilah from his heart and love's folly led to his downfall but he still harboured no bitterness against her.

In the present times of Artificial Intelligence where robots and machines are all teamed up to take the place of humans, one wonders whether such a system can stand its ground and for how long?
Can we be replaced by mechanical beings who are programmed from within but without a soul in whom only God can breathe life into?
How far can the world go in its quest for more advanced technological achievements that it leaves God far behind thinking it can surpass the wisdom and intelligence of God which is not possible to do even in a million years?
In the book of Job (38:4-11), God clearly asks Job; “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?” God further asks him whether he knows the laws of the heavens or can set up God’s dominion over the earth.
None of us can ever do the things that God did for us still more go through the painful horrors of the Cross on which our Saviour died.

This Lenten time let us join our hearts right into the passion of Jesus for we can never be mistaken about loving our God who gave up everything in his human form. God can never make any mistakes about loving us however far down the road we might wander, he will make sure he leads us back to him. We might even be ungrateful like the Israelites after they crossed the Red sea on foot but he will still give us our inheritance of the Promised land.

Like Isaiah pointed out in 42:3; “A bruised reed he will not break, and a smouldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice.”
The Cross might seem like the greatest folly but it is the fount of victory and divine love.
