In My Place

Many years ago there seemed to be more churches clearly preaching the simple Gospel of Jesus.
In the small Pentecostal church which I attended after my conversion, his dying in my place was the truth we heard in every meeting.
A nearby church once criticized us for being too ‘Jesu-centric’!
Praise the Lord!
One vital truth included in our church’s Statement of Faith was the ‘Substitutionary Atonement’ of Jesus at Calvary.
We need to get back to that glorious truth. It’s our only hope. It’s the only hope for the church, for our nation, and for the world.

In 1875, Philip Bliss expressed the truth very clearly in his hymn, ‘Man of Sorrows’:
         Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
         In my place condemned he stood,
         Sealed my pardon with his blood:
         Hallelujah, what a Saviour!

Substitutionary Atonement!
In my place!
