No Family or Friends this Christmas? Lonely? Sad?

Christmas is an amazing time when we celebrate the birth of Jesus. But it can also be a very lonely and sad time for some who are only left with memories of better times, when family and friends abounded. The great news is that we know Jesus will never leave or forsake us. He is with us right now if we have made Him our Lord and Savior.

for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Heb 13:5b ESV

Plus, and this is a huge plus, we have an enormous family we tend to forget. They are not yet perfect in their actions, just like us all. But like us, they are in love with Jesus and have been forgiven of their sins too.  They are saved by grace through faith, children of God and citizens of heaven like we are. I am talking about our family in Christ.

But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God— children born not of blood, nor of the desire or will of man, but born of God. John 1: 12-13 ESV

I hope you are going to church and have taken the time to look around recently. All those imperfect people around you who are worshipping and praising God are your brothers and sisters in Christ. Like us, they have seen themselves in truth and realize their need for Jesus. They still have their flaws like we do, but they are our family and we need to start really looking at them and loving them like Jesus does.

By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. John 13:35 ESV

GO to church this weekend and look around. If you do not have a local church, find one, it’s important. Then go and thank God for our enormous family, embrace them with unconditional love as Jesus has embraced us. Lose yourself in worship with them. Greet them, encourage them mightily and you will be encouraged too. Then you will realize you’re not alone at all.

We are greatly loved and standing on solid ground in Christ. Eyes on Jesus.
