AMERICA'S MAKEOVER

PROLOGUE

Hi, All! I trust the cards are favoring you today. Is our great Republic of America, the land of the free and the home of the brave, treating you right? Or, is there something in your life, such as a proverbial hot mess, causing you much pain

If so, let's dive into the world of wonder, the world of hope, and maybe the world of change. Definitely here in our great Republic, we could use a make-over, starting with the inception of our old fashioned faith-based religion and patriotic ideas.

At this particular time the question may not be in sustaining the health of American democracy, but restoring it. Obviously the Old Time Religion principle has been left out in the rain. 

So, where do we begin? At the very beginning, of course. My most important freelance theory is to act and write on what I see, what I hear and what I believe. In doing so, I step out on faith (Hebrews 11:1, 6) in the dictation of the proper ideas, the proper needs, and the proper faith-based solutions. 

Thus, I have entitled this much-needed faith-based patriotic blog, “America’s Maker-Over.”

“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (II Chronicles 7:14)

According to a recent article written by Helen Raleigh, “Netflix’s new hit TV series 'Beef' reminds viewers that regardless of one’s station in life, nothing in the secular world, whether anger, revenge, money, status, or even relationships, can fill our inner void. Faith is our only salvation.”

To that brief statement, I shouted a big happy “Amen!” Yes, within our great Republic of America, the land of the free and home of the brave, civilizations change, societies change, customs change and people change. 

However, in today’s progressive socialistic world are the afore-mentioned changes for better or worse? For good or evil?  In (Isaiah 5: 8-23) we see a six-point indictment of evil introduced by the noun Woe. (1) Woe to the land grabbers. (2) Woe to the drunkard. (3) Woe to the blasphemous. (4) Woe to moral distinction. (5) Woe to the conceited, (6) Woe to the drunken judges. 

What about change? The Greek philosopher Heraclitus backed a theory of change by saying “the only thing constant is change.” Nonetheless, the basic principles, the providential dictates of our founding Creator, and our inner faith never changes. (Malachi 3:6)

Do you remember a famous quote from Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, on the War of 1812: “We have met the enemy and they are us”?  Yes, America, we need to stop pointing our finger forward towards others, when our thumb tends to point back at us.

“Those who hear and don’t act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like.” (James 1:22-24)

By history, it’s a proven fact that no civilization has lasted beyond about two hundred and fifty years. Where may America be within this mix? Unless you have been hidden under that proverbial rock, you are probably aware of the struggles of our great Republic in today’s evil world. We are faced with a fight for good versus evil, and for our providential Constitutional freedom, as well as the Biblical dictates, as opposed to the power of socialistic control.

The holy Scriptures, from cover to cover, have always been the best teacher. Thus, in (II Timothy 3:16-17) we have our lesson plan.

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

Now America, we need to take our heads out of the sand, and look around us. Look deep into the realistic mirror of religious sense, civil liberty sense, government sense, common sense, and yes that plain old horse sense; all of which show up loud and clear.

Now, are you still wide awake, or have you slumped into that man cave rocker in a dazed snooze? Search out God’s Word, the Bible. It will certainly help you to make sense of America’s make-over. (II Corinthians 5:17)

If you happen to read closely, you will probably detect that the Scriptures came from God through the men who wrote it. God superintended these human authors such that using their individual personalities, they composed and recorded without error God’s Word to man. In (II Peter 1:20-21) we have confirmation of the dual authorship of God’s Word. The Holy Spirit was guiding and guarding the men involved in the actual writing.   

So, go ahead read a bit. As the saying goes, “try it, you’ll like it.” And you know, being older than dirt and twice as gritty, I tried it a long time ago, and I still like it. Amen!

EPILOGUE

I trust you enjoyed this little blog, as much as I did in putting it all together. Regardless of some socialistic opinions, our living Creator God, the Maker of all heaven and earth, is still in charge. (Isaiah 66:1) He is still on His heavenly Throne. (Psalm 47:8) He still places both evil and good leaders in authority to affect His divine will. (Daniel 2:20-21)

What about it, Mr. and Mrs. America? Is America still the land of the free and the home of the brave within our daily living? Are we still asking for God’s blessings? Do we still stand, hand over heart, for the National Anthem? Do we still recite the Pledge of Alliance? Do we still sing patriotic hymns? Do we still read our Bibles and pray on bended knee? Do we still depend on the dictates of our living Creator God? Yes, yes, we still in fact do.

Conversely, are we now too progressively socialistic, too impatient, too modern, too self-consumed to consult our living Creator, the one who made us all in His own likeness and image? (Genesis 1:26-27) I sincerely hope not.

I once heard a tale about a loyal church Deacon who was driving down the street in a sweat because he was late for a very important appointment and couldn’t find a parking space. Looking up toward heaven, he said, “Lord, take pity on me. If you find me a parking place, I’ll be in church every Sunday for the rest of my life and I will give up all my sinful habits”. Miraculously, a parking space opened up right in front of his destination. The Deacon looked up to heaven and said, “Never mind, Lord; I found one on my own."

One day, which could be very soon, He will gather together His very elect, to reign and live with Him forever. (I Corinthians 15: 51-52) (I Thessalonians 4:13-18) Will you be on board? You can be, you know. Please read!  (Ephesians 2:8-9) (Galatians 2:20) (John 3:16)

So, I trust that wherever you may be on life’s road, that you will take the time to stop and smell the roses of a providentially directed life. Amen!
