PROLOGUE

Unless you have been hidden under that proverbial rock, you are probably aware of the struggles of our great Republic in today’s evil-generated world. We are faced with a fight for good versus evil, and for our providential Constitutional freedom, as opposed to the power of socialistic control.

It’s hard out there, like the world is ripping apart at the seams. Sometimes it feels like our hearts can’t take any more hurt.  But no matter what the world throws at us each day -- anxiety, fear, confusion, temptation -- we have a choice on how to respond.” (Dr. David Jeremiah) 

So, been on your soapbox lately? If not, why not? America now needs you badly.

According to Wikipedia, “A soapbox is a raised platform on which one stands to make an impromptu speech, often about a political subject. The term originates from the days when speakers would elevate themselves by standing on a wooden crate originally used for shipment of soap, or other dry goods, from a manufacturer to a retail store.

The term is also used metaphorically to describe a person engaging in often flamboyant, impromptu, or unofficial public speaking, as in the phrase, "Get off your soapbox." Hyde Park in London is known for its Sunday soapbox orators, who have assembled at its Speakers Corner since 1872 to discuss religion, politics, and other topics. Blogs can be used as soapboxes within the context of the World Wide Web and are often used for promotional purposes.”

Now, I sincerely trust this little blog will meet your fancy. Why not give it a whirl? Let’s title it  “On My Proverbial Soapbox.” 

“Thus, saith the LORD, stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, we will not walk therein.” (Jeremiah 6:16)

I’m on my proverbial soap box again.  You can either tune me in, or change channels. So then, what has happened to America? Can we still voice those old standards of “God Bless America” and “In God we trust”?

I remember well in school, listening to the morning devotions over the intercom and standing for the Pledge of Allegiance. Above all, why can’t we still stand, hand over heart, and give our National Anthem its just dues?

Growing up in America’s patriotic, faith-based mindset, I can now tell you, today’s American civilization has virtually forgotten about its Creator, God. The Supreme ruler of the universe, as considered in Americas founding documents, has been totally taken out of today’s equation of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I include that age-old by-line of “America, the land of the free and home of the brave."

I have now tuned out the television and radio national drive-by news broadcast distributors, in lien of the faith-based programming. I also watch the feel-good love triangle flicks, the ones that keep you in suspense to the very last minute, when the right gal finally chooses the wrong guy. Yes, I’ve now gotten them all figured out. And I won’t forget the educational cartoons, which I easily understand.

Now, the meat of America’s problems is a mixture of greed, power, ego, ignorance and ungodliness. There is also a little political fake news and nonsense thrown in for good measure. From the very onset of civilization sin has ruled the world. Progression, as such, is plainly given in Scripture. (I Timothy4:1-2)  (II Timothy 3:1-9,13) (II Timothy 4:3-4)

Starting from the infamous Garden of Eden scene of the disobedience to God's commandment (Genesis 3:1-7) and forward into today’s society, Satan, as promised in the Bible, has now taken over the world, including America. (Ephesians 6:12)

All public religious activities, such as public prayer, and Bible reading have now been virtually disbanded by America’s progressive governmental courts. The main culprit is sin, which is grouped into one progressive socialistic basket.

So, what’s the answer? The Scripture gives us a contrast of living. (Galatians 5: 17-18) We should not walk by the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21), but by the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-23). (Galatians 5:24-26) sums it all up. And don't forget our final Scriptural instructions and promise. (II Chronicles 7:14)

Always remember (Galatians 6:2-3) Amen!

EPILOGUE

There you have it, my soap box sermon of the day. Did you tune me in, or switch channels? I’d like to know. You may share my opinion, if you choose.

The year was 1954. The historic announcement was transmitted over the school intercom system. I was in the ninth grade of Junior High. I believe it was in the study hall period. President Dwight Eisenhower had just signed the bill to insert the phrase “under God” into the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance that children recited every morning in school. Shouts of joy were heard throughout the school grounds.

In my humble opinion, this political move gave way to the concept of faith-based prayer, of dedication, and of spirituality within America’s youth.  So, what has happened in today’s American culture, to turn this concept around?  

Yes, America is now in a total mess. Our progressive politically-driven situation or state of affairs is confused and full of difficulties. The Scripture is swift to relate that our living Creator, God, appoints both godly and ungodly to affect His divine will.

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others.
He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. (Daniel 2:20-21)

He also laughs at today’s false political progress. Should we ‘Go and do likewise? (Luke 10:37)

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision. Then shall He speak unto them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure."(Psalm 2:1-5)

Our God has the last laugh.Amen!
