{a groom to his bride}

I was not there when you took your first breath;
But God counted every hair that you had on your head.

I could not catch you, from those first steps you fell;
But angels took feathers and made you a bed.

I did not run to wipe your tears when you cried:
But a gentle hand, of a loving mother, dried them instead.

I was not there to tuck you in at night;
But the nearness, of a kind father, was there, in my place.

Then God designed to let me be your all;
To share in your dreams, in the dark and the light.

To love and to cherish, till death do us part;
To make our family feel safe and try to live right.

To nestle your head,and catch you when you fall;
To dry your tears when you're sad, and provide for your needs.

Today I give myself to be yours, for all time;
To be compassionate, as we follow God where He leads.

As the years pass, and we stay close to each other;
May we weather the storms together, as our love grows deeper.

When your mountian is to high, or your valley to low;
I will be right beside you, your guard and your keeper.
