Titus 2:11-14 - The Power of Redemption
Key Verses: (NCV)
- 11: That is the way we should live, because God's grace that can save everyone has come." This letter from Paul is a guidebook on Christian leadership. In verse seven he says: "In every way be an example of doing good deeds." As Christians, this is the way we should live.
- 12: "It teaches us not to live against God nor to do the evil things the world wants to do. Instead, that grace teaches us to live now in a wise and right way and in a way that shows we serve God." - The power to live our lives in holy ways comes from the Holy Spirit - He teaches and guides us along His path.
- 13: "We should live like that while we wait for our great hope and the coming of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ." - Simply waiting for Christ's return is not sufficient. We must live lives that point others to His glory.
- 14: "He gave himself for us so He might pay the price to free us from all evil and to make us pure people who belong only to Him - people who are always wanting to do good deeds." - As Christians we are redeemed. He has paid a ransom for our lives - purchased our release from the captivity of sin. Redemption opens our hearts to the purification and holiness that Christ makes available to us all.
- Are you living life the way you should?
Promises of the Gospel:
The lighting of the Christ candle on Christmas Eve must carry with it an understanding that, with Christ in our hearts, we have a responsibility to the kingdom of heaven to live holy and righteous lives. The Good News is that we do not have to try and do this alone. With the Holy Spirit leading the way, we are constantly guided and led along the path to truth and light. Redemption has paid the price for our sins and has opened the door to holiness. With this ransom paid we can turn our focus totally on God. We need not look back. We need not worry as to where we are going. If we simply keep God in the center of our focus we will be led along the pathways of ministry that He wants us to follow. As we follow Him, the good works that lay in our wake become guideposts for others so that everyone can come to learn of God's grace and the power of redeeming love available through His son, Jesus Christ.
