                              The Bible’s First Mention of Faith

Many might not consider the bible’s first recorded mention of understanding faith is found in Genesis.

Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have gottena man with the help of the Lord.” Genesis 4:1 ESV

‘The work of the Lord.’ Isn’t that what faith is all about? Trusting and thanking God, for the work He alone has done. Without ‘faith’ it’s impossible to please Him, for whoever draws near to Him, must believe that He can and will listen to lead us.

Consider our father Abraham; No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God,  fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.”
Romans 4:20-22

The Apostle Paul is speaking of the faith of Abraham, “that he believed God,  and it was counted to him as righteousness.” We are given a measure of faith assigned to us as followers of Jesus. (Romans 12:3)

Even as Eve recognized God presence and preeminence is what brought blessing of bearing children.

When I witnessed the birth of two of my five children, For me… there was no greater miracle; from that of witnessing life come into existence. What treasure it is, recognizing the power of God!

‘Faith’, is recognizing God at work in all of our daily life experiences. Children attending school each day, individual’s beginning his or her work day. The homemaker managing her household is faith in action.

Thank you Father, for sharing the bible’s first act of faith.
