Revival is not an Option
It must not be forgotten.
It is a necessity.
To avoid death, reviving water is the urgent need of the drought-stricken plant.
So it is with much of the church in the UK.
Revival is not an option.
It is an urgent necessity.

History Points the Way to Revival
History is past tense.
Church history is past tense.
We have records of it.
Some folk may have memories.
But we cannot easily re-create it.
Even so, revival history stands tall behind us, reminding us today of our vast need for God’s intervention.

Local History Points the Way to Revival
When Veronica and I first lived in Wales, we met older Christians who had experienced the Welsh Revival of 1904.
We also got to know many chapels which testified to the mighty work of the Holy Spirit years ago.
In Builth Wells, the old Alpha Church has the text ‘Ye Must Be Born Again’ carved in stone over its door.
History.

God tells us to listen to History
Isaiah 46:9 “Remember the former things of old...”
The history of God’s activities can encourage us to cry out for Him to get active similarly now.

History can be Repeated
As in much of the past, society today is in serious trouble. Internationally, nationally, and locally.
However, history records similar situations when God has mercifully intervened. He has stepped in, transformed the church, and transformed society through the ministry of the Lord’s people.
Revival history can be repeated!
Today!

How urgently we need to cry out to God as Isaiah did:
“Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down!” Isaiah 64:1
