For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. Romans 8:29 NIV
Jesus is the firstborn as He existed before mankind was even created in the image of God. How is it that we are predestined? It is because God foreknew who we are and that we would be followers of His Son. We therefore are conformed to the Son and become adopted sons and daughters of the Father through the Son. Christ is the firstborn, and we belong to Him and are co-heirs to the kingdom of God with Him.
