Sometimes when we are inspired of the Lord to write things, they aren’t always popular with the masses. This just may be one of those times. However, my goal is not to gain the popular vote but to reveal a truth. Over the past few years there has been an intense focus on the deliverance of woman and there is no doubt, we need it. But within the push for delivering us from our past, some of us got lost in the mix. Most of are familiar with the ministries of those who have spent quite a bit of time focusing on the needs of women. I have attended numerous women’s conference as well as ministered at many them. We have been given books, and messages as well as movies as mediums to help us push past our pains and sorrows and receive the deliverance that the Lord has given us. Yet, there are some of us who really aren’t “loosed” after all. We attend the conferences, watch the broadcasts, read the books and view the movies but sooner or later, the same issues that once had us bound eventually incarcerates us again.
Now, don’t get me wrong here because this is not an attack on the ministries that are out there and are striving to help women everywhere finally break free but instead a message to those of us who have gotten trapped by the “good feeling” that we have after we leave the conferences. Sure, everyone needs a spiritual pick me up from time to time but we must seek more than “Goosebumps” and that tingly feeling we receive when hearing a charismatic sermon. Yes, we can become tired of the manna and crave a little quail and yes, the Lord in His love and grace does provide it. Nevertheless, we begin making meals out of the “special treats” and “side dishes” rather than consuming the meal that is there to help sustain us after the big deliverance.
We can build ourselves with things that are meant for décor, not a foundation, and before we know it we are back at “ground zero”. The truth is regardless of the messenger or the platform, our deliverance and the life we live after which is in our hands. We must do the root cause analysis needed in our lives to find out where the real problem lies. We must recognize that there is a huge difference between being delivered and just not thinking about it anymore and find refuge in the Word of God to keep us liberated. Every Christian has to be delivered. When we accept the Lord as our Savior, we must renew our old way of thinking through the Word. While women are generally more emotional than men, it doesn’t mean that we should be a bunch of spiritual, overly tender toddlers running from assembly to assembly to get “freed” from the same problem we got delivered from the year before. So for the sake of a climatic ending I will borrow this phrase from the Bishop who has helped break the chains of many by restating, “Woman thou art loosed,” Jesus took care of all of that on the cross. My only addition to the phrase is, “Now let’s stay that way and walk in it!”
Galatians 5
1Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
