How can we make the most of life? We could take two jobs at a time, earn money and live a lavish lifestyle, stay connected with influential people — boosting our status, or tour other countries to flaunt our wealth; and the list goes on. The world gives plenty of options to keep us distracted from ourselves so we’ll focus on the acclaim of the world. It’s not something that should tempt the believer but many are attracted. Many receive a false sense of satisfaction by the number of friends they have on Facebook, or how many followers they have on Twitter. They stay connected with the latest App and post pictures to get a ‘wow’ from their friends and even strangers. This is the state of the human mind today — seeking acclaim from the flesh.
The greatest satisfaction comes sitting in a quiet corner of your room, seeking acclaim from God. And as you walk back into your world, people are attracted, not because of what you have done, but because they see the ‘Light’ of Jesus in you, bringing satisfaction and joy which cannot be received from the world. Isn’t it amazing what God supplies for us? It’s from the Lord. The Word says, “…Seek first the Kingdom of God…” (Matthew 6:33 NKJV). But sadly, it makes no sense to most carnal minds who look for their own praise.
A prideful mind is not from the Lord. ‘I am the best’ attitude is what the world relates to, not the Spirit. Jesus went preaching and healing in various towns and locations, never to brag about who He was in a prideful way. He never used His abilities to pull other people down and we shouldn’t either.
It’s better to be known as a child of God focused on acclaim from the Spirit than it is to seek applause from the flesh. Make the most of your life by seeking the Kingdom of God, not the world.
