Of all the crazy and even evil dreams that I have had, I have had only 1 dream that I consider perhaps was from God: the one about going to my dad's and my mom's graves on the day that I expect the resurrection and rapture. And there is no way of knowing whether or not it was from God. We must be very careful with so-called dreams and visions in this day. I have heard that many Muslims have had dreams that led them to faith in Jesus Christ. I would guess, if they hadn't been consciously thinking about Christ, that--chances are--God was speaking to them through their dreams. But again, there is no way to know for sure. Dreams and visions from God do not seem to be common in our day.

 

One makes a big jump when he suggests that just because the Old Testament says that God will pour out His Spirit "in the last days" to bring prophecy (direct words from God), speaking and interpreting foreign languages never learned, dreams and visions, it means that all these gifts will run uninterrupted from the 30 AD Pentecost until the Second Coming. Frankly, we just don't see that. The Old Covenant, with Moses as mediator, was inaugurated with signs and wonders, to confirm it was from God, but they dramatically decreased after Moses' 40 years of ministry. Perhaps to inaugurate another great prophetic time in Israel's 2nd millennium, signs and wonders reappeared with Elijah and Elisha, the latter seeming to receive "a double portion" of the Spirit, perhaps foreshadowing the New Covenant, with Jesus as Mediator, also inaugurated with signs and wonders, to confirm it was from God. These signs and wonders began with Christ's birth and into His ministry, beginning with His first miracle, turning water into wine, and ending with His ascension. They then continued through the Apostles and the Early Church for, I expect, 40 years, until 70 AD, when Satan and the demons not active in Noah's day were cast into hell.

 

Jesus made very clear in John 9 that "we" (Jesus and the Apostles) must do "works" (miracles) like healing the man born blind until they end sometime during the "night," after He, the Sun, was gone and the Holy Spirit, the Moon, ruled through the Church. 1 Corinthians 13 makes clear that prophecy (direct words from God), the gift of tongues and the gift of knowledge (direct knowledge from God) would cease. Coupling this to the temporary signs and wonders of the Old Covenant and John 9, one can assume that these gifts of revelation ended with Christ's invisible coming in 70 AD. Paul was in a time of transition from the New Covenant revelatory signs and wonders to the New Covenant fully revealed Word of God, the Old and New Testaments. This is the "mirror" to which he refers (1 Cor 13:12, 2 Cor 3:18, Jms 1:23), in which he sees the glory of God dimly, literally, "in a riddle." Signs and wonders will reappear in the last 7 years however.

 

I also believe that Pentecostalism and the Charismatic movement are part of the apostasy of the last times. I believe that Satan and the demons not active in Noah's day were released from hell likely in 1903/4 and it is interesting that Pentecostalism got its big start in LA (California, where else?) in 1906. Many Pentecostals and Charismatics are likely the ones to whom Jesus referred when He said this:

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not [falsely] prophesy in Your name, and [falsely] in Your name cast out demons, and [falsely] in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’
