Whom Do Men Say You Are?
Have you ever considered what people will say of you after you have passed away? What will your eulogy be about? When friends and family utter those final words about you, what will they be?
In Matthew 16:13, Jesus asks the disciples, "Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?" Jesus refers to himself as the son of men, rather than the Son of God in the passage of scripture. This is not say that He was no less than the Son of the living God but Jesus was asking who did people think he was as a man.
The life we live speaks whether we are actually talking or not. Paul wrote to the church at Corinth that " Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men; manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not in tables of stone but in fleshy tables of the heart."
Christ should be emulated in our lives. He is the first-born of many brethren and God is our father. A father is filled with joy and pride when his child looks and act like him. The term Christian is defined as a person having the qualities demonstrated and taught by Jesus Christ, as love, kindness, humility, etc.
In I Peter 2:11-12, it tells us that our conversation (behavior) should be honest among the Gentiles (non-believers). Is this really the case? Do we dare fool ourselves by believing that we are more that we ought? What I mean is do we think that we have achieved "holiness" but continue to act as the Gentiles?
What all we do, our conscience should be good and although others may speak evil, as evildoers they may be ashamed that falsely accuse our good conversation in Christ (I Peter 3:16).
Now think of your life, how you've lived it thus far and those whose lives you have touched in some way, good or bad. If you passed away tonight, who would men say you were?
I can tell you who the Lord says you are. You are lively stones, a spiritual house, and a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Christ Jesus. A chosen generation, royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people that ye should show forth the praise (virtues) of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Who do men say you are?

Very good....When one goes down to the graveyard and gazes upon the tombstones..Most have been marked "John Smith Born 20 December 1902 - Died 18 December 1978". It is the dash that matters, what one did between the date of birth and the date of death....Indeed, whom do men say who you are...most importantly, What does God say about you. Keep on writing for His glory. Irvin
Yes, indeed, whom shall men say we are .. thanks for the reminder we should have in the very front of our agendas
