The faith of a child

Matthew 18:4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Ever notice how little children are so innocent, truthful, compassionate and caring to others without any hesitation?  While playing together you may see them argue and tussle, and then the next minute their up hugging, laughing and playing with one another as if nothing had happened.

Children are born innocent and compassionate, but somewhere along the way we as adults have taught them to lie, cheat, fight, connive against another, create conflicts for personal gain, and so on.

We are all born with a certain amount of greed and selfishness, take a baby for instance, when they want attention they scream out, makes no difference whether or not you are sick, asleep or busy at the moment, that scream demands immediate attention from you, regardless, but we have to be trained out of that just like we are trained into the aforementioned.

Jesus speaking to His disciples, is teaching them of conversion and being molded into the character of Christ, to be acceptable for the Kingdom of Heaven, and He used a little child as an example of what this conversion represents.

Matthew 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Now why did I use this scripture? You see the Scribes and Pharisees, were very jealous of their positions of power and prestige, giving them the idea that they were better than others because they were members of the ruling religious  sect.  They feared Jesus as a threat because they did not understand  or take serious the scriptures.

Much like today, most assume because their name is on the Church rolls, they have been baptized, sprinkled, anointed, etc., they make their presence known once a week and drop their coins in the offering plate, their good to go, and if they can hold a position in the church through crook or hook, that’s even better.       Better study your Bible for the truth folks.

We are all sinners by nature and habit, but if we are to be truly converted, then we become a new creature, abandoning the former self and becoming as a little child, humble, meek, compassionate and charitable to others.

2^nd Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

The  characteristics of Christ are: "UNCONDITIONAL LOVE"        "MERCY "               "GRACE"                                 Do we exhibit those traits?

Pay attention to children and you will see those characteristics in their behavior, and this is what we should. as Christians be striving to achieve for admittance and residence in Gods new Heaven and Earth.

Rev.21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it, any-thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

1^st Cor.6:9-10    9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

A four-year-old child, whose next-door neighbor was an elderly Gentleman,  and who had recently lost his wife was seen crying by this little child, and upon seeing this grown man crying, the little boy went into the old Gentleman's' yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.  When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, thinking the child had upset the man, the little boy just said, 'Nothing, I just Helped him cry.' 

 Now, can you say you have the faith and compassion of that little child, giving comfort and love, though the child had no idea why the elder gentleman was crying, in fact he never asked,  he only saw that this gentleman  was hurting.

Sometimes we are so caught up in our own little world, we fail to see the real world. Jesus walked this earth with nothing but the garments on His back, never worrying about His comfort, and no-where to call home. Yet, He gave His all, even to those who hate and reject Him.

If we are to occupy the new heaven and earth which Jesus has promised to those who love Him and keep His commandments, don’t you think we should be about becoming more characteristic of Jesus, exhibiting   “UNCONDITIONAL LOVE”       “MERCY”     and     “GRACE” to those we come in contact with, and especially our families.

Don’t just wear the emblem of the team, play the part of a Christian, to be a Christian is to be “CHRIST-LIKE”

Matthew 13:37-38  37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; 38  The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

May God add a blessing to the going forth of His word
