‘I feel your pain.’

Do I?

Do I feel the pain of the needy?

People have so many needs. What I see may only scratch the surface.

Do I sympathize?

Is it more than sympathy? Is it empathy?

Do I have compassion?

Do I?

Jesus was moved with compassion.

“When He saw the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were weary and worn out, like sheep without a shepherd (Matthew 9:36 HCSB).”

“As He stepped ashore, He saw a huge crowd, felt compassion for them, and healed their sick (Matthew 14:14 HCSB).”

“Now Jesus summoned His disciples and said, ‘I have compassion on the crowd, because they’ve already stayed with Me three days and have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry; otherwise they might collapse on the way (Matthew 15:32 HCSB).”

“Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes. Immediately they could see, and they followed Him (Matthew 20:34 HCSB).”
