On TV, on electronic road signs as we drive our cars, everywhere it seems, the message "stay home" appears. Although there is a legitimate reason for encouraging people not to go out that much, some in authority may be trying to exploit the recent health pandemic in order to control the population. They seem to be going overboard in not releasing restrictions. Maybe they want us all to stay home and not peaceably assemble!
There's a character on the old TV series "Andy of Mayberry" who, a nut, comes down out of the hills occasionally and comes to Mayberry, where he likes to break windows. When Sheriff Andy sees him do this, he shouts "Go home Ernest T"! Those on the left, as did Joseph Stalin, view the average person to be like Ernest T, a miscreant who always causes trouble and has to be heavily regulated, controlled by the state.
Churches, at least in Pennsylvania, have not been considered as an essential place where people go. The authorities rightly call some of the places, such as where we can get food, medicines and other necessities essential, but in some cases what is "essential" is up to the interpretation of those in charge. Authorities are fallible and, being flawed humans, can twist things around. An extreme example of this is former President Bill Clinton pondering what is "is"?
Evangelist Francis Shaeffer wrote back in the 70s that freedom in America has been abused, and one of two things will have to happen for society to maintain order. Either we create a police state, where people are controlled from the outside, or we will have a Reformed Christian consensus in our country in order for people to be controlled from the inside, with limited government.
For some time in America we have been in a cultural war, where the left wants to tear down our Christian heritage and usher in their Brave New World, where anything, such as same sex marriages, adultery, and pornography, goes. Christians must be vigilant to bring light to the world during the Corona Virus outbreak and minister to others and help by showing Christian compassion. This was the case after the fall of the Roman Empire during a plague. After the pagans ran away, Christians stayed and risked being exposed to the plague in order to help others. Consequently, Christianity spread.
"We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God." 2 Corinthians 5:20
