Catholics Can Confess Their Sins Directly to God

Because Catholics should not attend mass gatherings (pun intended) due to the Coronavirus, Pope Francis told them they can go directly to God. (Source:an article by David Rogers with the Christian Daily)

     This is nothing new. The Holy Bible teaches that “there is one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus” (I Timothy 2:5).

     First John 1:9 states, “If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

     Coupled with this is I John 1:7 which says “...the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin.”

     “Let us therefore draw near with confidence to God’s throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help in time of need”  (Hebrews 4:10).

     When Jesus died on a cross and rose from the dead over 2,000 years ago, he not only died for our sins, but through his resurrection we can have the power to overcome our sin nature. We can experience not only forgiveness, but also hope, peace, and eternal salvation, but there is one condition. One must accept Jesus Christ as their one and only personal Savior. Acts 4:12 tells us ”...there is no other name given among men whereby we must be saved.”

     Pope Francis is just saying what the Holy Bible has always taught. Anyone, of any faith, can go directly to God for the confession of sins.

     So, if Catholics, or any faith for that matter, can’t get to their place of worship due to the virus, they can still confess their sins to God right from their shelter-in-place. It is not necessary to go through a priest.
