‘If you continue in my word… you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.’ John 8:31-32 (NRSV)

These are hard times. We are desperate people. The world needs encouragement and hope. Right now believers need to be in God’s Word. Soaked in His promises. Flooded with His Spirit. Operating in His power. Proclaiming hope. Administering comfort. Sharing love.

Jesus said that if we continue to remain in His Word - filling our mind with Scripture – we will be distinguished as His disciples. We will become people that know the truth and these truths that we hold onto dearly, will set us free from anxiety, fear and doubts. God knows that we need His Word just now and He promises that as we read it, believe it and live it, we will be over-comers. Able to overcome whatever rises up against us. And able to build up others so that they may be over-comers too.

These are desperate times. They need to be addressed with desperate actions. This is not a time for giving in or slackening off. This is a time to put God and His word first. To put all our strength to the task of seeking first God and His Kingdom ways. Only the soul of the diligent and faithful person will be richly rewarded.

What is hindering us from giving more of ourselves to God in these dark days? What steps can we put in place so that we might shine brighter for Jesus?

‘Father, I want to seek you with my whole heart. Help me give myself to you and your Word so that I may grow stronger and shine even brighter. Thank you.’
